Licensed Professional Counselor
I am trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist and work with individuals and couples on relationship issues including marital, couples, pre-marital counseling, separation and divorce. I have a special interest in working with couples transitioning to being parents and the changes that the “couple relationship” faces.
I have been in private practice in the Charleston area since 1989. My office is currently in Mt. Pleasant.
My Education & Background
I was born and raised in Beaufort, SC. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at Boston University in Boston, MA in 1975. After working for four years in the mental health profession, I continued my education by completing my Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services at Georgia State University in Atlanta in 1981.
I have experience working in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings treating clients with concerns including alcohol and drug abuse, dual diagnosis, relationships issues, spirituality, grief and loss, LGBT issues, and developmental life transitions.
I also enjoy working outdoors doing experiential therapy and learning. I have been a ropes course co-facilitator and taught canoeing and kayaking. I am currently certified as an Equine-Assisted Psychotherapist by EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association).
